junior week may. 15, 2026
went mia after one day at school last week, so i'm just going to include what i did that day onto this post
mold
matt helped me with the mold by teaching me how it works, and despite how messy everything was, we were able to get it clamped and would be done overnight.
and then i was gone for the entire school week after that. came back next week tuesday.
this is what it ended up looking like when it was done. super thin (which is what i wanted), but also too brittle. so it broke and became unsalvagable.

because of that, i decided to just not use the mold and instead just friction fit the pcb with the aluminum case (when it gets made), opting for electrical tape to protect the components
case v???
adjusted the tolerances of the case to account for friction fit without the silicone pad, and printed it.
may have been a bit small (could be 3d printer tolerances?) but it didn't fit well, and would flex on the sides causing it to curve in the center
i might just sand it down a bit and test the fit again befofre adjusting anything on fusion.
cam stuff
so most of my time on cam was spent doing things solo, but i finally started getting some progress with the help of adam
he told me about specific milling speeds and stuff, the differences between the tools, explaining a bit about different operations, and some other information that was quite useful.
he also showed me this website which showed specific cutting speeds and feed rate because fusion was giving extremely high numbers
after a day of consulting with adam, we got the entire cam operation done, and i should be ready to move on
gonna have to consult with mr.l about specific tools as for some reason i don't have access to our tool library on fusion. after adjusting everything, i should be ready to start machining in two weeks (as next week is weird).
